    • The village of Roque-Gageac, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France , is nestled between its cliff and the Dordogne. It benefits from a microclimate, almost Mediterranean, thanks to its southern exposure.

La Roque-Gageac aligns the white and ocher facades of its houses. Many small alleys lead to the foot of the cliff, from which one can enjoy a magnificent view of the river.

Next to the mid-cliff church and thanks to this natural solarium, there is an astonishing exotic garden made up of palm trees, banana trees, agaves, fig trees, cacti, bamboos...

By extending your walk, you will discover the Manoir de Tarde, a vestige of the Renaissance which still dominates the heart of the village.

To discover the village by the river, the best way is to embark on the famous gabarres. These traditional flat-bottomed boats, once used to transport goods along the Dordogne. The majority of the gabarres sailing on this part of the river, did nothing but descend it because they were dismantled on arrival to be sold as firewood.

La Roque-Gageac and its inhabitants, the Laroquois, offer you a warm welcome every year, in this country of fine gastronomy.

One of most beautiful villages in France, located on the Dordogne river. Very touristy but still worth visiting

Pretty village. They claim to be one of France's most beautiful places, according to some official decision, but in my opinion is overhyped. The location is very nice and the houses pretty, but it's a rather small town and not really tourist friendly. In fact, the main street is on the national route, which here is just one-man-a-half, maximum two narrow lanes, and it has no sidewalks!
