About

  • English
    • Located 10km from Sarlat, Beynac-et-Cazenac is easily spotted by its imposing castle. The latter was once the scene of several bitter wars between the Lords of the fortress (allied to the King of France) and the Lords of the Castle of Castelnaud (allied to the King of England, the Plantagenets).

Ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages in France, the village of Beynac-et-Cazenac is located on the cliffs of the Dordogne.

River, village and castle : this is the magic trio of meeting Beynac from its origins to the present day.

A charm with a unique cachet, the Château de Beynac is one of the best preserved and most renowned in the region. Medieval construction (12th century), it overlooks the Dordogne river and overlooks the town on its right bank.

The Castle is classified Historic Monument on February 11, 1944.
