- The National Museum of Prehistory is located at the heart of a group of prehistoric sites, in the town of Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil, which have provided a large collection of objects. These caves and rock shelters, in the heart of the Périgord Noir, have been occupied throughout prehistoric times, continuously telling us the story of our most distant ancestors. This museum reveals their daily life to you: how they dressed, hunted, or cut tools, but also what their homes looked like? You will also admire magnificent works of art very symbolic, to imagine their beliefs ... It is a very animated museum, with reconstructions and videos, guided tours with themes, workshops for children ...

It offers many, beautiful and well organized artifacts from prehistorical times. Objects are organized chronologically. There are short films available in various sections explaining the objects. The only downside was the fact that very limited information was available in English. Otherwise a great museum to visit.

A well laid out museum with excellent guides written in English on each display. There are displays of bones, jewellery and weapons. I learned a lot about the different types of prehistoric men. There are some nice views from the upper gallery too.

Historic importance. Museum some beautiful pieces for family. Really worth a visit. But key for people with some expertise (numerous different small bones or tools putting developments in a historic guideline). Millions of small objects with significance, but for family a quick visit.
