Deposits of Castel Merle Listed archaeological site in Périgord Noir at Sergeac

Located in the heart of the Vézère Valley, between Montignac-Lascaux and Les Eyzies-de-Tayac, this authentic and listed archaeological site features rock shelters inhabited by our hunter-gatherer ancestors. These sites offer insights into the daily lives of Homo sapiens through high-quality guided tours, and you can also experience their daily routines through numerous activities (spear throwing, cave painting, fire-making, etc.).

You can also visit one of the rare rock shelters adorned with sculptures that is still open to the public. This site has been the subject of numerous archaeological excavations. Its collections include thousands of items of personal adornment, including mammoth ivory beads, perforated seashells, and drilled animal teeth.

For groups (minimum 15 people), visits by reservation are available year-round. A program of activities is then offered and chosen in consultation with the organizers.
