    • The Gardens of the Donjon, Manor and Garden of the Hall

Open the door to this unique place in the heart of the listed village of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, to discover its gardens and its centuries-old cedar tree. The gardens are decorated with purple, white and pink flowers and flower beds, highlighting its simplicity and natural beauty. At the foot of the Manor and the Master Tower, the gardens highlight the beauty of the ensemble classified as a Historic Monument.

Ornamental gardens, medieval garden, remarkable tree and fountain

It is a garden that can be appreciated both from the windows of the Manor, the walkway of the Master Tower and when walking along its flowery paths. Maintained with great care, it is an alternation of flower beds, French-style gardens, and English-style gardens. There are also patches of aromatic herbs and other specialties of simple medieval gardens (to support the explanations of Catherine, who runs workshops on medicinal plants). The gardens are arranged all around the building and at the bottom you will admire a magnificent, centuries-old Cedar of Lebanon, a remarkable specimen of tree to be preserved at all costs!

New for 2024: A snack bar will be open for you to eat all day on site, eat quality products on the go and drink refreshments (open to all, even without an entry ticket)

Workshop on aromatic and medicinal plants

Catherine Heine, a graduate of the Lyonnaise School of Medicinal Plants, will lead workshops to discover plants from the gardens of our regions during the long weekends and summer holidays. To flavor, to feed or to heal, plants have no secrets for her! Come share his knowledge. Visit the Donjon, Manoir et Jardin de la Salle website to find out more.

Please note: A photo exhibition by Matthieu Ricard, Buddhist monk, will take place from June to the end of September 2024. Come admire sumptuous photos captured by him from all over the world to admire their beauty.

Visited on 26/10/2025 Lovely visit. A very warm welcome from the lady at the ticket office, who was very kind. The small garden was pleasant despite the late season. The self-guided visit was very enjoyable with plenty of information provided. The framework and roof of the keep are very surprising and interesting to see. Worth a visit.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place, which is both welcoming, filled with beautiful rooms that hold its own history, and idyllic thanks to its simple garden. Thank you to the receptionist for her kindness upon our arrival and for the treasure hunt for the children.
