    • You say to yourself: “Another cave with stalagmites and stalactites? Certainly, you will see some. But that's not why Maxange was recognized as unique in the world. Do you know the eccentrics? These are limestone formations that go in all possible and unimaginable directions. Visible in only a few caves in the world and in small quantities, you will discover them by the thousands at Maxange. 30 minutes from Sarlat, do not miss this masterpiece of nature in this cave discovered in 2000. An experienced guide will introduce you to the mysteries of this unique site, easy to access, classified as a national heritage, 2 stars in the Michelin Guide.

New for 2023: Thanks to the discoveries made this winter, come and enjoy a surprising new gallery as well as new lighting and new sound and light for a (re)discovery of this incredible place.

Really enjoyed our trip to the Grottes. Our tour guide was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. This was a very interesting experience and I learnt alot. The area it is in is stunning so also makes for a beautiful drive here. Very exciting to find that they have found more caves and they are making the experience even bigger so there is more to see on our next visit !

Have been to many grottes over the years so nearly didn't visit. So glad we did. Different in so many ways. As the tour progresses new lights are illuminated teasing you as to what's next to come. Only discovered in 2000. I challenge you NOT to look at the pictures so you can see the formations first hand and enjoy the surprise.

Very well worth a visit, tour in French but guide spoke good English and with written handout all was good. The way the cave is lit adds to appeal.

Lovely cave where we took our somewhat reluctant 7 and 11 year old boys. They loved it with spectacular stalactites and unusually shaped formations in vast quantities. Well worth the time to visit

I really enjoyed visiting this cave, unlike the other caves in this region that are famous for man made art, this cave is art my mother nature. There are the more traditional stalactites and...
