La Salle Dungeon and Manor

In the village of Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, push through the wrought iron gate of the Donjon et Manoir de la Room… A splendid logis, a noble house typical of Périgord, with its tower-mistress of the 12th century, which crossed centuries, from the Middle Ages until today. It opens its doors to the public for the first time! This residence with an imposing studded door, also houses a 15th century manor in which you will discover furniture and arranged collections in a cabinet of curiosities ranging from music to herbalism, including legends of fantastic animals...

From the pretty gardens, admire the heavy lauze roof, then climb all the way to the top to walk the old covered way and benefit from a splendid view of the village. In summer, you will appreciate the saving shade of the Giant cedar, which is the pride of the house, but also of the village because everyone can enjoy its majestic branches.

Part of the La Salle Dungeon and Manor has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1957, some wings have been renovated by the owners since the 1970s. Inhabited since the Middle Ages, the Dungeon vibrates with the lives of its former owners. Stroll through the kitchen and admire the elements preserved as they are, which have always seen small dishes simmering: the fireplace, the stone sink, the rammed earth. In the great room, one can imagine the guests seated at the table, the clicking of the cutlery and the gentle warmth of the fire in the hearth. Open your eyes to all the little details that surround you...
