    • CASTELWOOD, A VILLAGE OF LODGES AND SAFARI TENTS, IN THE HEART OF THE BIRON FOREST, IN THE PURPLE PÉRIGORD REGION

A haven of peace surrounded by nature

Castelwood is an estate located in Biron, in the heart of the Périgord Pourpre region, and very close to the Lot-et-Garonne department. Nestled in the middle of a dense forest, this holiday village offers an ideal setting for those seeking to recharge in nature. Castelwood distinguishes itself through its commitment to eco-friendly and sustainable tourism. Each accommodation has been designed to blend harmoniously into the environment, minimizing its impact on local flora and fauna. Whether for a stay as a couple, a family, or with friends, Castelwood offers a variety of accommodations to suit every desire for a change of scenery.

      A variety of comfortable accommodations

Castelwood offers several types of accommodation that allow you to fully enjoy nature while benefiting from optimal comfort. Among these accommodations, the wooden chalets are particularly popular. Designed to accommodate 4 to 6 people, these chalets offer a warm and well-equipped living space. Each chalet has a modern and fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and oven, a private terrace where you can dine al fresco, and comfortable bedrooms, ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring. The surrounding natural setting and the immediate proximity of the forest create a peaceful atmosphere, conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation.

Castelwood 's safari tents offer a unique experience, combining adventure and comfort. Perched several meters above the ground, they allow for total immersion in nature while providing spacious and well-appointed accommodation. The tents feature real beds, private bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. With their canvas walls, you can listen to the sounds of the forest and feel at one with the natural environment. These tents can accommodate up to six people, making them an ideal option for families or groups of friends seeking an unusual and unforgettable getaway.

For those seeking a touch more luxury and comfort, Castelwood also offers premium lodges with private spas. Designed for four people, these accommodations are perfect for a truly intimate stay, providing an ideal setting to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The lodges feature a large terrace and a private garden, guaranteeing absolute tranquility and complete privacy. The private spa is the highlight of these lodges, allowing guests to unwind in 36°C water under the stars for a unique and revitalizing experience.

      A strong ecological commitment

One of Castelwood 's most remarkable aspects is its commitment to ecology and environmental preservation. Accommodations are designed with sustainable materials, and the entire estate is laid out to minimize its impact on the surrounding nature. Cabins and tents are constructed from responsibly sourced timber, and every structure is designed to blend into the landscape without disrupting the region's ecological balance.

Castelwood 's eco-friendly practices are reflected in every aspect of the estate's management. Taps and showers are equipped with water-saving devices, and guests are encouraged to sort their waste and adopt environmentally responsible habits during their stay. This respect for nature is also reflected in the estate's design, where local wildlife, such as squirrels and birds, is preserved and protected. This eco-responsible approach allows visitors to enjoy a sustainable tourism experience while contributing to the preservation of local biodiversity.

      Activities for all tastes

Castelwood offers more than just quality accommodation; the resort also provides a range of activities to enhance its guests' stay. From the start of the season in early April, the heated swimming pool is available to holidaymakers. Covered by a retractable dome, the pool allows swimming regardless of the weather, offering a relaxing experience enjoyed by young and old alike. When the weather permits, the dome is removed, transforming the pool into an open space where guests can soak up the sun and fresh air.

In addition to the swimming pool, Castelwood offers its guests a barbecue area, a pétanque court, and play areas for children, such as a ping-pong table and a foosball table. These facilities allow guests to spend quality time with family or friends in a peaceful, natural setting.

Discover the treasures of the Purple Périgord and Lot-et-Garonne

The Castelwood estate is ideally located for exploring the treasures of the Périgord Pourpre and Lot-et-Garonne regions. Less than 30 km from Biron, numerous activities and sites of interest await visitors. Hiking enthusiasts can explore the marked trails that wind through the region's forests, valleys, and limestone plateaus, offering spectacular panoramic views.

Biron Castle, a listed historical monument, is one of the jewels of local heritage. It stands proudly above the forest and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. This medieval castle is a must-see for history and architecture enthusiasts, who can explore its richly decorated rooms and gardens.

Local markets, such as those in Monpazier and Villeréal, are also not to be missed. They offer the chance to sample regional products, like truffles, foie gras, and Bergerac wines. These markets are also an opportunity to meet local producers, who passionately share their expertise and products. For an even more immersive experience of Périgord gastronomy, visitors can visit small producers in the region, who offer tastings and tours of their farms.

For those who prefer outdoor activities, the region also offers opportunities for canoeing on the Dordogne or Lot rivers, mountain biking trails, and horseback riding. The diverse landscapes and natural beauty of the region make the Périgord Pourpre an ideal playground for outdoor enthusiasts and explorers.

A stay at Castelwood offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing yet enriching holiday in a pristine natural setting, immersed in a region with exceptional cultural and gastronomic heritage. This estate is the perfect place to discover the charms of the Périgord Pourpre while enjoying comfortable and eco-friendly accommodation.

Castel Wood, a charming estate situated in a green and peaceful setting. The layout of the chalets offers much-appreciated privacy. The welcome from Jean-François and Stephanie is very warm; they are very attentive and helpful in guiding you through the often difficult choices of sites and remarkable villages to visit. Breakfast, served in the chalets, is much appreciated thanks to the quality of service. We'll definitely be back with other friends! - Josy

Castelwood offered us a unique stay in nature, with beautifully appointed chalets and superb breakfast baskets. The perfect and friendly welcome was the highlight of this verdant haven. The region abounds with excellent restaurants and historical and artisanal sites to visit. Thank you Stéphanie and JF, we would love to come back.
