    • In the middle of a cereal plateau today, formerly wooded, dotted with vines for the production of Monbazillac and Bergerac (AOC), we see a bell tower... It is Issigeac.

On the borders of the Dordogne and Lot et Garonne, Issigeac is a medieval town which stands out from all the surrounding fortified towns.

At the heart of its ancient circular enclosure where the alleys wind like a snail, we discover a village of character where shadow and light, wood and stone intermingle, where the alleys and alleys bring the past back to life.

It is while walking in the heart of the labyrinth that one sees the medieval stone houses which embrace the half-timbered houses unique in Périgord. Built from the 14th, 15th century, having preserved the authenticity and the finesse of the architecture, they make the originality of the village. The image hunters stroll in search of surprising buildings. Thus at the corner of the Grand'rue they raise their heads and observe the Maison des Têtes, with its stone arcades, its half-timbered houses decorated with carved wooden heads; on the square, opposite each other, the Palace of the Bishops of Sarlat (17th century) and the church of St Félicien (late Gothic), on the town tour, the Prévôté.

A peaceful village in the heart of the countryside that today energizes its town with the colorful Sunday morning market and all its events. Issigeac, an invitation to travel, a place for strolls where, at the crossroads of the alleys, only the cooing of pigeons punctuates our steps. We imagine the life of yesteryear, the encounters around the fountains and the walks along the river...

At this time of year, its market is very pleasant as it winds its way through many streets. The town has still remained in its original state with all its old houses. There are many artisans. A very pretty village to spend your summer holidays there.
