Coutellerie Nontronnaise, heir to immemorial know-how, is part of the French landscape of regional knives.
A Nontron is more than a style: it's a genre that we defend and that wants to say a lot about our territory and our know-how.
In this universe, the Nontron knife is an ancestor and inspires many legends. This imagery dating back to the dawn of time is based as much on its imagined forms as on its distinctive pyrographed sign.
Its history is so long that it is even difficult to date its birth. However, specialists agree on the fact that the Nontron knife is the oldest knife in France and that its origin dates back to at least the 15th century.
But tradition does not mean stagnation. On the contrary, Coutellerie Nontronnaise, in its wooden and aluminum setting designed by Luc-Arsène Henry, has employed the services of renowned designers such as Olivier Gagnère, Eric Raffy, and Christian Ghion.
Heirs to a long local cutlery tradition, today's cutlers still strive to handcraft the Nontron with the same techniques as their predecessors. The workshop, close to the heart of the town, allows visitors to see and appreciate the artisanal production.Hours of operation :
