    • The Cistercian Abbey of Échourgnac is a beautiful religious complex, in the heart of the Périgord countryside. It is a very lively community and involved in local life. In this haven of peace, the nuns patiently take care of refining the cheeses, which they resell in their shop, as well as in many shops in the region. The cheese dairy is part of the private buildings of the monastery. Only the church and the shop are accessible to the public.

    Went to buy there famous trappe cheese. Was unable to visit any of the abbey just the church. Could not see any of the famous nuns working. Instead we got to visit the abbey's shop where they were selling there famous cheese which was mouldy. Great 5mins visit.

    The Trappist Sisters made a beautiful home for God, in honor of our Blessed Mother. He must be so pleased. The Abbaye makes a perfect place to be in the real presence of God, either alone or with a group.

    It's a tranquil place with a shop The abbey has many restrictions for access There's no actual cheese making here it seems Nice place for a picnic though.
