    • Lascaux II, opened in 1983, is the first facsimile, located in Montignac on the hill protected by Unesco, a few meters from the original cave. Discover the exact replica of the axial diverticulum and the bull hall that represents 90% of the paintings of the famous cave. Leaving the light of day for the world of darkness, you will have the privilege of being the only group and the sensation of walking through the original cave. Throughout the visit, the guide will endeavor to recreate the emotion of discovery and introduce you to the intimate and universal art of Lascaux. Lascaux II, offers in-depth and thematic tours by reservation.

Loved it, even if they reproduced partially the main cave, it is close to the original one and the visit is very original, the guide used a torch! Lascaux IV was fully booked at that time, looked too much futurist from outside, the lady was also quite rude at the reception. Good choice we went back to Lascaux II

Excellent experience! The tour includes looking at the facsimile with a torch, which is a wonderful experience. We had a very dedicated guide, who explained to us everything - from the discovery of the cave to the significance of the drawings - and this very detailed and informatively. I recommend Lascaux II (over IV). In the Covid context, I feel that we were rather safe. However, there were 1-2 people in the group who wore the mandatory masks below their noses... I would have appreciated a reaction from the guide/security concerning this. Especially because we were all inside a closed space, very close one to the other.

Masterpiece of a cave replica. The experience is impressive to start the first steps into the cave with a torch only - this gives you the feeling of a first time discovery. Yet, I'd recommend to visit Lascaux 4 before(!) that you can learn and immerse into the different techniques and details which you can see once more in Lascaux 2 again. 1-2h is enough for Lascaux 2 whereas Lascaux 4 may require significantly more time to visit.

I'm so glad I went to Lascaux II. With the opening of IV, II may be playing out the string. It is getting a bit tatty around the edges, physically, but it still was just wonderful. A couple days...
