  Welcome to the Hostellerie de la Commanderie ! Located in Condat-sur-Vézère, a charming little village in the Périgord Noir on the banks of the river, you will enjoy a peaceful stay in one of the 7 welcoming guest rooms of this former Hospitaller guard post. Condat is a village at the confluence of the Coly and the Vézère, ideally located for exploring the Périgord Noir, its cultural and tourist sites, the Terrassonnais and why not the nearby Corrèze. You are only a few minutes from Montignac and the Lascaux Caves, and 30 minutes from Sarlat for a gastronomic and heritage outing.
  
  The rooms are spacious and the romantic decoration takes you back in time, but with all modern comforts. Flat screen TV, free wifi and lounge area. From your room you can admire the park with its hundred-year-old trees, and its swimming pool. The Roux family welcomes you in a warm spirit. A continental breakfast is available in the morning, served under the arbor in summer. The Hostellerie de la Commanderie also has a restaurant serving regional cuisine using tasty recipes made from fresh produce. The establishment has free parking to park your vehicle.

Lovely place with excellent food. We did not stay overnight here (unfortunately we had already booked a different hotel) but it looks beautiful and is definitely very peaceful. We had a lovely and leisurely dinner on the terrace - menu 25 euros, including entree, plat, fromage et dessert. Everything was delicious, and the service was quietly warm and friendly. We spoke French but I believe that other guests speak English.

This place is amazing? We got a perfect 4-course menu upon our late atrival and checked in in the authentic and charming rooms with squeaky floors and bog beds. 10/10 would stay again.

Cycling down the Coly stream we arrived in Condat-sur-Vézère where the Coly drops into the Vézère river through a little cascade. Strolling through the little village we visited the fortified church dating back to the 16th century, the small and larger mills, the hospitallers prison and then chanced upon the commanders lodgings, former XIIIth century safekeeping post of the Knight Hospitallers. This historic place serves day menus (formule midi) inside its dining room with thick paneled walls and vaulted ceiling. It is great value at 15 euros and comes with a starter and dessert! Though it feels a bit as if you are dining in a antique shop, the atmosphere was warm and cozy and the service friendly. There is the option for a dinner, which at 95 euros remains a secret to us… maybe for a very special occasion. This place is not visible from the main road, and located in the cluster of historic buildings just over the stone bridge.

This is the best location to stay for a vacation in Perigord Noir. It’s 10 to 30 minutes from every other town to visit. La Commanderie is in a beautiful 800 year old house. It’s really nicely...

We booked a double room at the Hostellerie online, but when we arrived, we were shown to a very odd room with four single beds behind curtains and were told that there were no double bedded rooms...
