    • The Gabarres of Bergerac, an unusual boat trip on the Dordogne river

In the heart of Bergerac, on the banks of the Salvette or departing from Creysse, settle comfortably aboard a traditional flat-bottomed boat for an unusual experience on the Dordogne River. With its team of guides and experienced captains, a trip with the Gabarres de Bergerac is both enjoyable and exciting.

The Gabarres of Bergerac, an unusual boat to discover in the Purple Périgord

With its flat bottom, the gabarre navigates easily in all conditions. Whether the water is shallow or the load heavy, this unique boat, originally used for transporting goods since Gallo-Roman times, moves with ease. Discover the natural ecosystem of the Dordogne, one of the cleanest waterways in France (a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve), and admire the flourishing nature that surrounds you. Fauna, flora, stone buildings, charming villages, mills, and underground dwellings —the Bergerac region boasts a rich cultural heritage to discover in an unusual way. The friendly, family-run team will share the history of the Dordogne with you during a peaceful boat trip. In the warmer months, complete your excursion with a wine tasting featuring Bergerac Duras wines.

The Bergerac barges, adapted tours on the Dordogne

The history of river navigation and the major historical events of the old town will be recounted on tours lasting 50 minutes, 1.5 hours, or 3.5 hours, depending on the route chosen. Between April and October, take the road to Bergerac and let yourself be guided on cruises departing from the port of Bergerac at the Quai de la Salvette. Groups are welcome on one of the two 55-seat barges for a bucolic and unusual outing with friends or family. At the end of the day, admire the sunset reflected on the Dordogne River, blending warm colors and shades of green. Open daily during the season, you can even reserve a boat to organize a private event. Float, sail, and enjoy yourself on the Gabarres of Bergerac.
