Located in a former mill in the Nauze Valley, with its impressive engine room, the spinning mill bears witness to the industrial heritage of the Périgord region. Following in the footsteps of the workers, visit the mill through demonstrations, interactive exhibits, and videos, and trace the transformation of raw wool into yarn.
Games, slideshows, videos, information panels and models will allow young and old to discover wool fiber in all its forms.
Experience the art of working with wool: it's up to you to handle the carding combs and the spindle!
Discover impressive industrial tools from the early 20th century: the carding wolf, the winder, the spinning continuous, the bobbin winder… Significant restoration work and regular maintenance was required to preserve all these beautiful machines.
The Filature is:
► a place of learning: Creators and professionals offer a range of internships and workshops to learn or improve textile skills in a spirit of exchange and conviviality.
► A production site: We acquired a Dutch felting machine so that the team could produce felt for textile manufacturing. 2014 marked the Filature's entry into the departmental network of the Route des Métiers d'Art (Crafts Route).
► a specialist shop: The spinning mill shop is linked to the theme of the site: it offers a wide choice of wools, patterns, textile materials to transform as well as items made by local or national designers.
