About

  • English
    • "I have two loves... my country and Paris..." Who has never listened to or hummed this beautiful song by Josephine Baker? Built in the 15th century by the Lords of Caumont, the Château des Milandes was the third love of this great lady of the 20th century for more than thirty years.

Discover the fascinating and extraordinary life of Joséphine Baker, an internationally acclaimed Music Hall performer, as well as a courageous and committed woman who served her adopted country during the Second World War. Explore the château's fifteen furnished rooms and follow the story of her remarkable commitments and achievements throughout her life.

The Château des Milandes is also home to a Remarkable Garden. Stroll through the elegant French formal gardens, where fountains and water features accompany your walk through this magnificent green setting before leading you down to the landscaped park below. Step inside our immersive aviary, open daily to all visitors, and discover a world of exotic birds up close. A complete change of scenery awaits!

Another unique feature of the Château des Milandes is its spectacular Birds of Prey Display. Discover the fascinating history of falconry while admiring a variety of diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey. An unforgettable opportunity to experience these magnificent birds at close quarters.

Les Milandes also offers a wide range of family activities. Workshops and entertainment for both children and adults invite everyone to immerse themselves in a variety of unique experiences. Joséphine Baker believed in sharing, passing on knowledge and bringing people together, and the Château des Milandes proudly continues her legacy through its programme of activities.

Before, during or after your visit, our brasserie welcomes you from 7 February to 15 November 2026, and again from 5 December 2026 to 3 January 2027. Whether you're looking for lunch, afternoon tea or simply refreshments, enjoy our terrace overlooking the château.
