    • Château Barrière is the only preserved example of chivalrous strongholds, built in the Middle Ages by feudal families.

Located near the old Saint-Etienne cathedral of the City, at the end of one of the main ways of the medieval city which joined it to the borough of Saint-Front, it bears the name of the Barrière family attested in 1245 and keeps it despite the disappearance of the lineage in the 15th century. It consists of a main building flanked by two towers installed on the bases of the ancient rampart of which only the keep remains.

During the Renaissance, it was adorned with a polygonal staircase tower, a flamboyant Gothic entrance door with sculpted decoration, endowed with a curly brace embrace, framed by pinnacles and cross windows. It was burnt down in 1575 by the Protestants... The construction is designated by the term of castle only from the XVIIth century when it is in ruins..Property of the city, it is classified historic building since 1862.

Built between the 12th and the 16th century on the city walls which contain stones from the Roman city Vesunna, burnt in 1575 and never rebuilt, its ruins are free to visit and still impressive with a few precious carved stones.

Worth seeing, former palace and part of the medieval fortification, which was built directly on and into the Roman walls. Carefully and carefully restored and preserved, it remains unchanged and can only be viewed from the outside. Explanatory boards in French and English give you the opportunity to see the building in its historical context.

A very beautiful ruin. The whole is well crystallized and protected. A very comprehensive information panel allows you to understand the history of the site.

Ruins of a family chateau. One can tell it was quite large and most likely very nice. Destroyed during the Religious Wars, I found it interesting that the home next to it was not damaged.

Château bien endommagé mais à voir pour l'histoire, l'endroit est sympathique avec de grands marronniers centenaires.
