4 sur 5 Reviews posted by Matthijs Remmers on 25/02/2026

Stayed at this campsite for two weeks in August. I thought long and hard about the review and the score, but after some deliberation, I'd actually give it 3.5 stars. I find the basic facilities, such as sanitary facilities and a good location, more important than the on-site experience. Since my review is too long, I've put some sections in the subcategory "food & drink & surroundings." First of all, the welcome was friendly but basic. We were told about our pitch and the route to it. No further information about entertainment or what to do in the area. We found the pitch, Kerria 3. We were pitched at the front of the field, which later turned out to be two English families who belonged together. They had their belongings spread out all the way to the paved path, making it difficult to drive onto the pitch with the caravan without picking up some branches from the hedge. The (small) pitch was also illogically laid out for a caravan with an awning. Bushes are nice, but there was a tree with some low branches on the left and a bush on the right. This meant we couldn't use the rear of the pitch, and we couldn't even get the car in. A mover is recommended at this campsite. Those who were camping could park their cars in the field, but they were all parked right next to the road, which is a bit of a shame for children playing and socializing. The swimming pool is fine, but basic. No slides, etc. It gets very busy on hot days. We had temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius and a red alert. There were already small fires nearby, near the supermarket, etc. To protect our children, we put clean shirts on them, and on day three, our son was sent out of the pool in the middle of the day and referred to reception. The advice was that I should apply more sunscreen to the children and/or get a special shirt. When I asked where I could buy one, I was referred to a sports shop a 20-minute drive away. After asking why, I was only told that this was the policy (children walk into the pool from the river wearing shorts, so hygiene can't be a factor). All this got me thinking, and unfortunately, I was absent too much on the way and unexpectedly had an accident. We finally got the shirts, and the kids were finally able to get in the water three hours later. It was surprising that during a code red warning, the BBQ was still lit en masse with coals, and to top it all off, I pictured the Englishmen on the pitch throwing oil on it with flames reaching up to the branches of the trees. Nothing was done about this, even though staff were walking/driving around. The campsite advertises extensive entertainment. However, it's only accessible for those aged 8 and up. Children under that age have fewer activities available, apart from the standard children's disco and some crafts. They also advertise wellness facilities, such as a jacuzzi and sauna, etc. However, these are only open in the mornings, and unfortunately, after a long day, there's no sauna or hot tub in the evening. In those two weeks, I used a hot shower three times. The other times, it was unfortunately cold. I tried both the new and old buildings. The positive aspect of this campsite is the landscaping. It's beautifully decorated with lovely park-like trees and bamboo. A tip would be to add more trees/shade cloth around the playground, as everything is beautifully lit between the trees, but the playground and sports field are in full sun. The river is also a great spot for swimming, canoeing, fishing, or stand-up paddleboarding. We didn't see much of the surrounding area due to the heat, as it was too hot to visit towns and castles. Conclusion: The campsite was not priced well (quite expensive) and the pitches were relatively small. Limited hot water is also a point I consider important. We still have to pay extra for many things (go-karts, certain activities). It's a very beautiful area, though, and we will definitely return to the Dordogne to see what we missed, such as Roque Saint-Christophe, Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère.
