This establishment specializes in the rental of canoes and kayaks, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in a preserved natural setting.

An offer adapted to all audiences

Vert Auvézère offers varied routes, suitable for both families and those who enjoy more sporty sensations.

Participants can choose between canoes (2 adults or 2 adults with a light child) or individual kayaks. Equipment provided includes paddles, safety vests, and waterproof containers to protect personal belongings. This all-inclusive formula guarantees a pleasant and stress-free outing.

Route on the Auvézère: nature and sensations

There are two main routes to explore the Auvézère River depending on the desires and level of the participants:

      • Descente Cherveix-Cubas to Tourtoirac : This route of approximately 8 km alternates between calm sections, small rapids, and dam passages. It takes between 2 and 3 hours to complete this descent. Along the way, participants can observe the local fauna and flora, stop for a refreshing swim or simply enjoy the natural setting. A shuttle brings participants back to the starting point at the end of their excursion.
      • Route to the Guimalet Bridge : Shorter and more peaceful, this route is suitable for beginners or those wanting a relaxing stroll. Ranging from 1h30 to 2h round trip, this route offers gentle navigation in the heart of lush greenery.

An immersion in the heart of Périgord

Along the water, visitors discover a river renowned for its wild character and preserved environment. The diversity of the landscapes, alternating between steep reliefs and wooded areas, offers a perfect setting for an outing in the heart of nature.

      Additional activities and amenities

Upon arrival in Tourtoirac or departure in Cherveix-Cubas, free picnic areas allow you to extend this friendly moment. Lovers of local gastronomy can also choose to have lunch in one of the restaurants located near the departure or arrival points.

TO DISCOVER IN THE SURROUNDINGS OF CHERVEIX-CUBAS

Within a 30 km radius of Cherveix-Cubas, visitors can explore emblematic natural and cultural sites of the Périgord Vert and Périgord Noir.

      • Hiking and landscapes : Walking enthusiasts will appreciate the marked trails in the Auvézère gorges, particularly around Saint-Mesmin. These routes offer an immersion in the heart of a steep relief, perfect for observing the local biodiversity.
      • Places of interest : The Château de Hautefort, located a few kilometers away, is a must-see with its French gardens and impressive architecture.
      • Towns and villages : The small town of Tourtoirac seduces with its abbey and its cave, while Excideuil charms with its medieval streets and its local market.
      • Markets and local producers : The markets of Hautefort and Thiviers allow you to discover the flagship products of the Périgord region, such as foie gras, nuts and artisanal cheeses.

Great route, we canoed on a hot August day, and you paddle in the shade a lot. We were told beforehand that the water level was low and we'd have to get out of the canoe a few times, which was true and no problem. But then the return trip; we had to wait 70 minutes! They had told us beforehand that they had "one driver" and that you should call when you reach the finish. "Fine," you think. When we arrived at the finish, the van, full of canoeists who had arrived earlier, just happened to pull up. He saw the four of us standing there and said "come back driver" and "5-minute driver." We thought he meant he was coming back, but that wasn't the case. The start point is a 9-minute drive. We called twice and were told "your driver is coming." They have a system they can't explain in English, and my French (a difficult language) isn't good enough to understand them. Make sure you know how it works before you leave, otherwise it can take a very long time. So they speak bad English.

Friendly owners/staff. Good explanation of the route. The equipment is well-maintained. After canoeing, you can call to confirm your arrival at your destination, and after about 10 minutes, a bus will pick you up and take you back to the starting point. Reasonable prices and a beautiful canoe route with quiet sections, where you might occasionally encounter a herd of cows in the water or a deer drinking on the bank. There are lovely waterfalls, which can be quite a challenge to avoid capsizing during the descent. There are small rapids, and nature takes its course. If a tree falls, it simply stays there, and you have to try to navigate around it without getting snagged on underwater branches. All in all, always an experience and fun to do, even with children.

Very disappointed with this morning... Even though the team is very friendly, I think it would be important for the organization to cancel or postpone the activity when the water level is too low. We...
