    • Canoe or kayak trip on the Dordogne from La Roque Gageac

Canoë Dordogne awaits you at the La Roque Gageac canoe base, in the town, for a canoe or kayak descent on the Dordogne! How about admiring the castles from the waves?

Canoe trips are very popular in the Dordogne which is one of the favorite departments of sports enthusiasts who like to paddle, to practice this sporting and leisure activity. 130km of waterways are available to you, Canoë Dordogne offers several routes to please everyone, from 2 to 25 km or several days of roaming (2 to 7 days for 24 euros of equipment per day).

The Dordogne is an easy-to-navigate, family-friendly river that does not present any danger. You are equipped with a life jacket and provided with a waterproof container for your belongings, the team of Canoë Dordogne takes care of transporting you by bus to and from the base.

For your comfort, remember to wear closed shoes, bring a hat or a cap to protect you from the sun. If you want to take breaks and swim, a towel and swimsuit will be ideal, as well as sunscreen to avoid sunburn! Children from 5 years old and able to swim can participate.

This was a highlight of our trip. The service was ok, not overly friendly, but less surly than some reviews make out. I guess if your lugging canoes back and forth all day in the heat, you wouldn't be up for a chat to the hundreds of tourists that pass through. This place is not the cheapest, but you got the back rests and waterproof container included, and it was a route that suited us. It is worth booking ahead of time if there is a large group of you, or you may miss out. The river is stunning, and gentle. There will be places that get very shallow, so watch the water and pick your path or you will get a bumpy ride. There are plenty of beaches to pull up on though not as many snack stops as I expected, so take plenty with you. You are not timed, but have to be back for the last bus at 7pm so don't miss it! The route times are more a guide as how long it would take if you paddled the whole way with no stops. Tip: Take a shorter route and really relax with lots of stops..Or take a longer one and get paddling!

Lovely canoe along the dordogne river today with amazing views and lovely scenery. Quite pricey at €18 per person for 9km, but certainly worth it!

Turned up on the day and got a canoe with my young daughter for an hour. Had great fun on the river. Staff were very friendly. Price seemed very reasonable, especially as under 12s are half price
