      Historical Anecdotes

      Knights' Armor

Let's demystify the image of knightly armor. Far from being excessively heavy, they weighed on average 25 kg, well distributed across the body, offering astonishing mobility. Jousting armor, more imposing, sometimes weighed between 50 kg and 80 kg, specially designed to resist the impact of the spear.

      Horses in the Middle Ages

Medieval horses were diversified depending on their use. From the powerful steed to the fast steed, each horse had a specific role. Tournaments, beginning in the 11th century, combined horses, armor and weapons of war in a form of competition and combat training. Jousting horses were bred specifically for this exercise, measuring between 1.50 m and 1.60 m, and weighing around 500 kg, guaranteeing perfect agility.

Join the Equiloisirs Association for an equestrian adventure in the heart of Périgord Noir, between tradition and entertainment, in an enchanting setting conducive to discovery and escape.

We had a “mega, super, awesome” evening. The kids LOVED it and so did us parents. The show is up to par, you don't see the time and for the very reasonable price, it's worth it. Next time, we will eat there, the price of the catering is really cheap. The games are very well thought out to keep the children occupied while waiting for the start. Thank you for this superb evening.

I had a great time with my 10 year old son. Congratulations to the young knight who entertains the fortified castle, to the master-at-arms who excels in his historical explanations and to the head of the team for the equestrian shows. And a nod to the chef for his duck breast cooked to perfection! Looking forward to coming back this summer.
