  Not cheap, but an amazing experience! The views were stunning and the flight itself was really serene. Our pilot recommended a morning flight if you can fit it in, though we went up in the afternoon and it was fantastic. It takes a while for them to set up, and you can get involved in packing the balloon up again after but we quite enjoyed that aspect. If you can afford it and have the time, highly recommended once in a lifetime trip!

  I cannot recommend this enough. The experience we had flying with Balloon & Castles (Montgolfiere et Chateaux) was absolutely amazing. The communication with Lionel and Lola leading up to the trip was phenomenal. Everything was clearly laid on with them and they have a very informative website to answer most questions. We took two private balloons for our family and could not have been happier with how things turned out. We chose to go in the morning, which is recommended by the company. It was absolutely still at that time, so we were able to float peacefully around the Beynac area rather than being carried away by the wind far from the village views (which seems to happen more during the evening flights). We met at the office/parking lot at 5:45 AM, and launched around 6:35 AM. It was stunning, with the sun rising and patches of fog hanging over the Dordogne River area, burning off with the sun. There is a huge team of people working to set up the balloons and baskets, and then meet you where you land. As many people have said, you do help set up and pack up the balloon, which requires some coordination and strength, but gives you a sense of how much work goes into flying these massive vessels. After landing, repacking the balloon and getting the basket back on the trailer, we enjoyed a nice breakfast snack of foie gras, croissants, orange juice, coffee and champagne. It was a lovely way to toast the experience. Because this company is so well-recommended and the experience is so beautiful, make sure you book in advance. If you are having any hesitation, go for it. It’s absolutely amazing and the team at Balloon & Castles is highly professional and puts safety at the forefront of their operation.

  What an exquisite and gorgeous way to begin our day and experience the magic of the Beynac-et-Cazenac region, the castles, the Dordogne, the sunrise and morning mists… the utter peace and tranquility of floating high above the troubles of the earth, watching flocks of birds winking far below… and colorful balloons floating all about us… held safely by experienced welcoming and kind pilots and hardworking assistants who gave thorough explanations to prepare us… and worked hard to provide us with the best possible trip. It was beautiful! Then we were presented with the loveliest of breakfasts of amazing food and drinks in a field next to the trucks, complete with castles and balloons and round bales of hay day backdrop. It was an incredible experience! One that will remain in my heart forever!! So grateful to this company and people!
