Between the towns of Carsac-Aillac and Vitrac, the Cingle de Montfort is a bend in the Dordogne. This meandering river forms an almost closed loop, surrounded by steep cliffs. Inside, the landscape is very flat, contrasting with the exterior surroundings and giving the impression of an island, nestled in a mountain. The Montfort cliff is also a climbing site. For those who do not feel the climb, you have a point of view from the top of the cliff, accessible by car. The panorama on the cingle, the castle of Montfort and the surrounding countryside is exceptional.
