  Welcome to the Hotel Restaurant l'Hostellerie de la Commanderie, a charming place where Annick Roux welcomes you with kindness and friendliness, for a stay in the Vézère Valley (the Valley of Man) in the adorable medieval village of Condat -sur-Vézère. Here you are ideally located to radiate between Montignac Lascaux (the Caves of Lascaux) and the pretty villages along the Vézère on one side (Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, les Eyzies, le Bugue, Limeul...), Terrasson and its old town and a little further the beginning of the Corrèze, but also the Sarladais which is only 20 minutes away.
  
  The Hostellerie de la Commanderie has a swimming pool. The 7 guest rooms are spacious, quiet and comfortable. They are furnished with period furniture and will greatly appeal to lovers of authentic atmospheres. You can dine in the restaurant, which offers Périgord cuisine. Service in a magnificent vaulted room or in the beautiful park adjoining the establishment.

Lovely place with excellent food. We did not stay overnight here (unfortunately we had already booked a different hotel) but it looks beautiful and is definitely very peaceful. We had a lovely and leisurely dinner on the terrace - menu 25 euros, including entree, plat, fromage et dessert. Everything was delicious, and the service was quietly warm and friendly. We spoke French but I believe that other guests speak English.

This place is amazing? We got a perfect 4-course menu upon our late atrival and checked in in the authentic and charming rooms with squeaky floors and bog beds. 10/10 would stay again.

Cycling down the Coly stream we arrived in Condat-sur-Vézère where the Coly drops into the Vézère river through a little cascade. Strolling through the little village we visited the fortified church dating back to the 16th century, the small and larger mills, the hospitallers prison and then chanced upon the commanders lodgings, former XIIIth century safekeeping post of the Knight Hospitallers. This historic place serves day menus (formule midi) inside its dining room with thick paneled walls and vaulted ceiling. It is great value at 15 euros and comes with a starter and dessert! Though it feels a bit as if you are dining in a antique shop, the atmosphere was warm and cozy and the service friendly. There is the option for a dinner, which at 95 euros remains a secret to us… maybe for a very special occasion. This place is not visible from the main road, and located in the cluster of historic buildings just over the stone bridge.

This is the best location to stay for a vacation in Perigord Noir. It’s 10 to 30 minutes from every other town to visit. La Commanderie is in a beautiful 800 year old house. It’s really nicely...

We booked a double room at the Hostellerie online, but when we arrived, we were shown to a very odd room with four single beds behind curtains and were told that there were no double bedded rooms...
