Canosphere Base

Canoe and kayak rental, for original routes on the Dordogne

Follow the turquoise canoes! Canosphere offers you the rental of canoes (for 2 to 4 people, all equipped with backrests) and single-seater kayaks (sit-on-top) to go down the Dordogne. Sail at your own pace! Canosphere is the only base that does not impose an arrival time. Either you went back up the river and come back at your own pace, or you go down and arrive at the base whenever you want to be taken back up by minibus. From 5 years old, all equipped with life jackets, a waterproof container (free at Canosphere!) and a paddle (single for the canoe and double for the kayak), you are ready for the adventure. Give yourself time to enjoy your moments on the water on one of the 4 courses from 19€.

  • The descent from the castles of Cénac to Beynac is done in 3 hours (13km), it is perfect for an introduction to canoeing in the Dordogne Valley with its viewpoints on the castles. Note that thanks to this route, you pass in front of the Château de Beynac and go past the village to arrive at Milandes.
  • The course of the cliffs of Saint-Julien de Lampon in Cénac is done in 3 hours for 12km, sumptuous landscapes await you and the superb cliffs of the cingle de Monfort and the rock of Caudon.
  • The wild route is 23km (in 4h30) and it is very little used! You evolve in a wild nature, it's a small Amazonia... A special Canosphere course that children can appreciate 100% thanks to an observation kit provided free of charge (which is valid for all courses!): Aquascope and Binoculars with a booklet to understand the biodiversity that we will observe.
  • The History course from Carsac to Beynac is 25km (in about 4h30) and it is the largest and most complete for those who want to spend a great day on the water.

Free roaming of several days on the Dordogne

Have you ever canoed, are you sporty or simply curious and looking for a real multi-day adventure? Canosphere offers you to rent canoes or kayaks and to go several days in free roaming, on the Dordogne. You choose the number of days, from 2 to 6 (the highest being Argentat in Corrèze). You are then taken by minibus with all the equipment as well as a detailed River Book to always know where you are without getting lost, to find your way independently. For housing? Most adventurers bring enough to make bivouacs. Food? Take as much as you can to be quiet, even if you will find supplies on the road, well, at the edge of the river! Do you have to be an expert for this kind of expedition? No, but you have to be at least athletic to be able to paddle for several hours during the day, several days in a row and accustomed to camping or living a bit wild!

Protect the river, its biodiversity for sustainable tourism

It was in 2019 that Thierry and 3 of his friends decided to invest in this canoe base, conveying important values, essential to them. Originally from the Dordogne, they grew up on these banks and after being scattered in their respective professional lives, they now find themselves here and wish to share their attachment to the river.

Located at the Cénac bridge, the base is in a green setting, open from April 1 to September 30. Canosphere participates in 1% for the Planet, that is to say that 1% of their annual turnover is donated to associations for environmental protection programs. The Nature Kit for children produced with the help of the Aquarium du Périgord Noir, helps to raise awareness about the protection of the river and its fauna and flora (Kingfisherman, European Otter, Heron, various fish, etc.). On site, free conferences at the Guinguette de la base.
