    • Villeréal, naturally authentic bastide at the gates of Périgord.

In the south of the Dordogne, between Bergerac and Agen, come and discover a bastide with a breathtaking hall!

Landscapes and sites bear witness to this. Built in the 13th century in just four years, the village has a regular plan corresponding perfectly to that of the Bastides. The church, a real fortress, dates from the 13th century. Strolling through the alleys, you will discover half-timbered, corbelled and mullioned houses as well as old-style enclosed gardens.

Go to the Tourist Office to get the map of the village and thus know the history of the Bastide!

We want to thank Office de Tourisme in Villeréal and especially Laura, who helped us a lot during our visit. She was so friendly, extremely nice and empathetic and helped us getting around to Lavalade, which was not an easy task for tourists and time sensitive:) Many thanks Laura !

Wonderfully helpful tourist guide with a variety of posters, flyers, booklets and maps for the surrounding area. Well worth a stop by if you are vacationing in the nearby area.

What a joy to finally see, for once, Villereal without a car and especially without the inconvenience and ugliness that it brings and that this beautiful place certainly does not deserve... This is the first time I've seen him like this. I had so hoped this would happen one day. I don't know if this is exceptional but it shows that it is possible and that it absolutely must be sustained over time. A flea market occupies the center of the village and that changes everything for wandering freely without nuisance. The old objects on display are so much nicer and less ugly than modern automobiles. I beg you to make this exception happen very often. A designation of "Most beautiful village in France" requires this to merit this qualification and escape the banality that the bulk of an ordinary city car generates. Parking your car outside the bastide and the church square and taking a few steps on foot to safeguard this place and its reputation would really be worth it...
