The Beaumont Region in Perigord, located on the borders of the Bergerac and Sarlat regions, offers a wealth of heritage and includes 13 municipalities.
The thirteenth century Bastide of Beaumont du Perigord was built in 1272 by Edward I, King of England. A stroll in Beaumont inevitably sends you back to the Middle Ages, with a central square surrounded by cornices, a late 13th - early 14th century fortified church in the English Gothic style, narrow, fortified houses, and Luzier’s Gateway, classified as an Historical Monument.”
“The Beaumont Region has many unforgettable sights: the St Avit Senieur abbey-church, listed in UNESCO’s World Heritage, Romanesque churches with bell-tower walls (Sainte Croix de Beaumont, Bourniquel, Labouquerie, Rampieux, Naussannes), a private castle dominating the Couze Valley (Bannes), a “stacked” house (Sainte Sabine Born), mills, fountains and villages of character (Monsac, Bayac), natural sites such as the White Dolmen (Nojals and Clottes), the unfinished Molières Bastide, without forgetting the medieval paintings in the chapel at St Christopher Montferrand du Perigord.”
