- Les Cabanes du Breuil is a tourist site which presents a traditional Périgord heritage to you in Saint-André-d'Allas. These charming dry stone huts had different functions, for storage or to shelter animals, in particular. They are part of the Périgord landscape and have become emblematic of the old local traditions. A family of enthusiasts got together to bring these old stones back to life. She restores them, invites you to unravel their secrets and introduces you to their construction during workshops.

The exhibited buildings, farm implements & agricultural machines along with the photographs, films and history were very explanatory of how life has been lived there, giving respectful attention to the parents and grandparents who worked so hard to renew the place. The instructional examples of how the stone buildings were made was very interesting to see, along with the related photos from many places in the world. Seeing the animals; the geese, chickens and ducklings, along with the sheep showed how people can continue to work hard at their modern farming life while showing their place in history. It is an inspiring place.

Fun and educational. The building your own hut activity is really fun. I hope ours will stand for a little while!

A French farm house from the previous century offers a great adventure for growing up children. Nostalgic mood and many interesting things to learn about rural France from the nineteenth century. The ticket is the right value for money.
