Gastronomy in domme: traditional dish dotted of a fresh note!

Domme
Gastronomy in domme: ...

Domme is a fantastic medieval bastide overlooking the Dordogne Valley. From its belvedere, you can enjoy 180° of breathtaking and amazing landscapes! It is in Domme that I will take you for lunch at the Restaurant Cabanoix et Châtaignes. Climb up the Grand Rue, the main street of the town, and on your right handside, you’ll discover a calm and picturesque passageway (that is very pleasant during summer…). In a charming 18th century dwelling made of stone and wooden beams, the restaurant Cabanoix et Châtaignes offers tasty recipes, combining the authenticity of the Périgord with some fresh, young and dynamic accents, like its team!

A good restaurant, for all occasions, all year round

Who said that the good restaurants are only for life’s big occasions!? As an enthusiast of Périgord’s gastronomy and fine gourmet, not me!! Pass through the gate of the Cabanoix et Châtaignes Restaurant, and enter a lovely cosy patio and intimate setting, take a seat in the passageway with its wooden stair… Would you prefer being indoors? The luminous and elegant dressed stone indoor dining room is waiting for you. There are alcoves for romantic diners, large tables for a family lunches…The bottles of fine wines are used as wall decoration, for your pleasure and to heightening your senses! The weather is still pleasant, and I choose a table outside. This dwelling dates back from the 16th/ 17th centuries, the charm of this place offers a pleasant and refined atmosphere  dighlighted by the rustic side of the wood and the dressed stone…

Le maitre des lieux ?

Master of the place?

The cuisine of the Restaurant Cabanoix et Châtaigne reflects the setting: using all  the charm and the traditions of the best produce of the Périgord: foie-gras, truffles, chestnuts, walnuts, fine wines, and tender meat… Here you can discover an original cuisine, with a sparkling note of youth …Youth? Indeed, the team in the dining room and the kitchen is dynamic and sprightly!

High quality standard and fresh produce

The speciality of the Cabanoix et Châtaignes Restaurant, is the harmony (on the plate, but also in the kitchen). In this restaurant, the whole team has an input in the various culinary ideas. The chef has 18 years experience, and like an orchestral conductor, she motivates the team and insures the right tempo, while maintaining an indispensable creativity, audacity and encouraging regular initiatives from each team member. The produce of the Périgord? They love them and this is why they are the kings of the menu, along with vegetables of all colours to sublimate, and exalt the savours of meat, fishes and shellfish. Revisiting with a touch of modernity the traditions, is a passion which can only be expressed with good produce: therefore creating a privileged relationship between the restaurant and the local producers. Indeed the local producers shape the side dishes and the daily menu: depending on the season they choose the produce in the market to highlight, in order to always offer extra freshness to the customer.
