    • Introduction to caving in the Dordogne with Couleurs Périgord

Have you always wondered what happens underground? The holidays are the time to challenge yourself and answer the craziest questions! The Dordogne is a perfect department for an introduction to caving in complete safety, during your holidays. Supervised by state-qualified instructors, you will have a helmet, a headlamp, a suit and everything you need to get started, crawl, observe, listen to the silence... In complete peace and safety!

During a discovery session of 2h30, you will explore horizontal cavities (no complicated descent or ascent) which present amazing underground landscapes. You will see that the Périgord is as beautiful below as above! Stalactites, stalagmites, without frills or lights, this natural decor is highlighted. It's surprising, disorienting! The caves that we visit are mostly dry, no risk of humidity beyond the natural humidity of a cave. Did you know that they are around 13 degrees all year round? Remember to take a light sweater and shoes that are not afraid of dust!

As soon as you arrive at the caving site, most of the time in the forest , you will be equipped for the adventure. A jumpsuit will protect your clothes, remember to take comfortable and loose clothes, as well as closed shoes like sneakers. You will then make an approach walk to arrive at the entrance of the cave. This is an opportunity to learn more about geology, the geography of landscapes, with your instructor. You then enter the cave and walk, often from room to room, through more or less narrow corridors, which present no danger. Children can join the adventure from 8 years old and the course will be adapted to the level and desires of the group formed. The ground is soft for crawling, sneaking around, trudging around, we're going to have a lot of fun! We will observe the few animals present in the caves, we will understand the creation of the geological formations present, we will observe this underground world so unfamiliar but fascinating.

Perfect location for the campsite we stayed at. The staff were friendly and helpful. All equipment was adequate and the prices were competitive. We had a brilliant day canoeing from Carsac to Vezac. A total of 22km. A stop for coffee, one for lunch and another for ice cream made for a relaxing day on the river.

Used our own kayak. Wonderful waters in the Dordogne River. People were clearly enjoying the services of the canoe company, but obviously we didn't need to engage with them.

A great day on the river. Perfectly adequate prep by le proprietor. The river a bit low on water, and we slightly grounded the canoe in a couple of places, but is harmless & adds to the interest. Go on guys, have a gentle adventure! Paul
