After I read on google maps that the cave is open, I cycled there from Les Eyzies in the heat of August (more than 30°C and steep upwards at the end), just to get the short information in a good English: "yes, it is open but it's already full (=closed) for today. You must call by phone or reservate via internet. Come again tomorrow." I told him I had to return the day after more than thousand kilo back to Hamburg, but he insisted on "no entry". Maybe it was better as it seems not worth at all....

This was very interesting indeed, but keep in mind that this is not a cave for children! Very interesting to see various drawings and carvings, but more on a scientific level, than on an adventurous/exploration level. Children below 12 may not enjoy it!

Fantastic Guide. First of the cave carvings i have seen so i cant judge against other ones in the area. Good lighting in the cave which they use to emulate how the paintings would of been viewed when first completed. Takes about an hour between going on the tour and having a poke around the museum and lookout point in the caves up the mountain.

Drove all the way here to be refused entry as I have children under 4. Nowhere in my research of this site did it say this. Very disappointed and upset.

This is a very small private cave site, and the tour guide does a great job of showing off their special paintings. This is one of the few sites that has a representation of a human figure (in...
